What makes us elite as students?

I was having a conversation with one of my lecturers and she asked me what it takes to be an elite student and it had me thinking a lot.
A lot of times, the word "elite" is often associated with wealth, status, or privilege . But true excellence is not defined by where we come from as Lupita Nyong'o put it, it is rather defined by the standard we hold ourselves to .
Being an elite student starts with discipline. It's the ability to remain consistent and stick with the plan independent of your mood. It is through building habits and not just occasional efforts and most importantly, it requires a growth mindset. Elite thinkers are curious to learn about the world and to challenge themselves each and every other time. They also hold themselves accountable for their actions and learn from mistakes.
Ultimately, being an elite student is not about being perfect or having every advantage, it is about choosing consistency and being better every single day.
As you prepare to join campus, the habits and mindset you build from day one, is what will shape the kind of student you become.
So the real question is: what does being elite mean to you?
