Why does HELB come late when the landlord doesn’t want excuses?

My landlord texted me yesterday for rent, but my HELB alert is a no-show. It feels like a high-stakes race, and I'm one step behind. Who else is living on the edge, hoping the HELB cash lands before I’m forcefully evicted? What's your go-to excuse when the landlord comes knocking😭?
