UoN Chiromo students — how do you deal with walking everywhere? My legs are gone 😂
Hugo
Heh, I totally feel you! When I first got to Chiromo, I genuinely thought I was being punished 😭. Those long walks from hostels to classes, especially in the hot sun or after a long day, were brutal. I remember limping back to the room with sore legs, and don’t even get me started on the uphill paths. I even started dreading early morning classes just because I didn’t want to face that trek. It felt like I was doing PE daily without signing up for it.
But over time, I actually got used to it. I started wearing more comfortable shoes and planning my movement better—like grouping my errands or classes to avoid going back and forth. I also started walking with friends to make the journey less boring and we’d talk or laugh the whole way. Eventually, it became part of my routine and weirdly enough, I even felt fitter 😂. It’s still tiring, but now I just take it as part of the Chiromo experience.
