Kenyatta Uni freshers, how are you finding the Matatu stages? So confusing 😩

When I first joined Kenyatta University, the matatu stages completely confused me. I’d find myself standing at the wrong spot, getting shouted at by touts, or even boarding a matatu going in the opposite direction—especially around the KU main gate and the KM stage. It was so frustrating, especially after a long class, and I felt like everyone else just knew what to do except me. I even wasted fare once because I panicked and alighted too early!
But over time, I started learning the flow. I asked a few friendly students, followed crowds, and memorized where different matatus headed. Now I know which matatus go to town (Route 45), which ones pass through Ruiru, and where to find the stage for Thika Road. The trick is to ask nicely and stay alert—tout language is fast, but you get used to it. It’s confusing at first, but trust me, you’ll master it before the semester ends.
