How does someone go about dating in campus?

Dating in campus was honestly confusing for me at first. I thought it would just "happen" like in movies, but it didn’t. I struggled with putting myself out there, especially in a place where everyone seemed to already have their circle. I was shy, didn’t really know how to start conversations, and feared rejection like crazy. I kept comparing myself to others, thinking I wasn’t attractive or interesting enough. For a while, I avoided the whole dating scene completely and focused only on books, but deep down, I wanted connection too.
Eventually, things changed when I stopped pressuring myself to find someone and started being more present in social spaces—group discussions, club meetings, and even casual hangouts. That’s when I realized campus dating isn’t about doing something “special” but about building natural friendships that sometimes grow into more. I learned to be honest about what I want, communicate clearly, and also accept that not every connection will turn into a relationship—and that’s okay. It's about knowing yourself first, before bringing someone else into your space
