Are there free writing books in campus?

When I first joined campus, I assumed that writing resources would be everywhere and free — but I quickly realized that wasn’t the case. I struggled with my assignments because I didn’t have the right materials, especially writing guides or textbooks. The library had a few copies, but they were always either borrowed or outdated. I remember feeling so frustrated because I wanted to improve my writing, but I didn’t know where to start or what to read. Some units even required specific books that weren’t available unless you bought them — and honestly, my budget couldn’t handle that.
Eventually, I learned to ask around and found that some departments actually had PDF versions or shared soft copies through class WhatsApp groups or email. I also discovered platforms like Google Books and open-access university websites that offer free writing handbooks. Lecturers sometimes give handouts too — you just have to be proactive and ask. It took time, but once I figured out where to look and who to ask, it got easier. So yes, there are free writing books in campus, but you have to dig a bit and be resourceful to get them.
