Where do students hang out between classes?

That’s a great question, and one that most first years ask without even realizing it. When you’re new on campus, it feels like everyone already knows where to go between classes while you’re just awkwardly standing around or wandering. But the truth is, we all figured it out slowly. Some students chill in the library—not necessarily to study, but because it’s quiet, has Wi-Fi, and is a good place to just be. Others hang out in open areas like benches under trees, cafeteria spaces, or grassy fields where there’s shade and fresh air. If your campus has a student centre or common room, that’s also a solid spot to relax, eat, or catch up on notes.
With time, you’ll find “your” place—somewhere comfortable where you can breathe between lectures. Personally, I used to float around at first, then I found a corner behind one of the halls where seniors and chill people would hang out. No pressure to talk, but always good vibes. Others prefer staying near their next class to avoid the rush. Don’t stress if you haven’t found that space yet. Try different areas, tag along with classmates, and soon you’ll settle into a routine that feels right for you. Everyone starts unsure—you’re not alone.
