We as students focus on popular courses like medicine, law, or engineering, but there are other powerful courses that quietly shape industries in the whole world, and one of them is Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
This course focuses on how organizations purchase goods and services, manage suppliers, and ensure smooth movement of products from one point to another. Every company, government institution, or organization needs procurement professionals to operate effectively.
In simple terms, procurement is about how things are bought, managed, and delivered efficiently.
For you as a Form Four student to pursue this course in Kenya, the general requirement is a minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ (plus) for a degree. But Some universities may also consider subjects like Mathematics, Business Studies, or English. Cluster points are usually moderate, often ranging around 28–35 points, depending on the institution.
Some universities offering this course include Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenyatta University, University of Nairobi, and Moi University.
After graduation, you can work as a procurement officer, supply chain manager, logistics coordinator, or inventory manager in both public and private sectors.
One thing many students don’t realize is that procurement is involved in almost every industry, lets say from hospitals and supermarkets to government projects and international organizations.
However, this course requires organization, accountability, and integrity, especially when handling resources and finances.
If you are someone who enjoys planning, organizing, and managing processes, this could be a strong course to consider.
The truth is, not all powerful courses are popular. Some are simply overlooked, but highly impactful. Take your time to explore them.
